ACTING 123 WORKSHOP  (JUST ADDED!)

Ages 11-14 (Middle School students)     6 weeks

(No class on Thanksgiving, makeup class on Wed. Nov. 23)
This course includes the building blocks of acting – from improvisation to performing short scenes. It promotes a range of important developmental skills: confidence, leadership, teamwork, and the creative “right brain” thinking recognized as critically important for success. We’ll work on monologues, scenes, auditioning and a short play which will be performed informally at our last class. The class will be taught by Amy Grentencourt, a theatre instructor at Waluga Junior High School, brings a wealth of experience to the LTC training program.

KIDS CREATE - IMAGINE THIS!

Ages 4-7     8 weeks

Saturdays, Sept. 24 – Nov. 12     2 – 5 PM
Fall Play: Winkin, Blinkin & Nod. Come join Liz in creating a new adaptation of the much loved story of Winkin, Blinkin & Nod. The children will write, create and design a marvelous show to be performed on the last Saturday class. Through games, play and art we devise whereever our imagination leads us!

ONE WORLD CHORUS

Ages 8-12     12 weeks

PBS Kids performer, Aaron Nigel Smith, is a children's educator and entertainer recently relocated with his family to the Portland area from Los Angeles. He has been the music teacher of choice for parents such as Julia Roberts, Ziggy Marley, Ashley Simpson, Tory Spelling, and Nicole Richie. Aaron will be launching his newest project, One World Chorus, at Lakewood this fall. Children will learn a wide variety of repertoire, from Harry Belafonte to J.S. Bach, as they experience the universal language of music. In addition to weekly rehearsals, choir members will have the opportunity to participate in a recording project that unites the voices of children from around the world. Each session will end with a family concert where the participants can share new music with the community.  Pre-requesite:  Audition September 28, 4:00 PM.

ACTING FOR NON ACTORS: THE SEQUEL

Ages 18 - Adult    8 weeks

The fun continues with the work moving up a notch. So many students have requested a follow-up class to go one step further, but still keep the enjoyable, no-pressure, creative experience. Here it is! Using scenes, monologues and improvisation, step into the work and world of the actor. Pre-requisite: Acting for Non Actors or a Beginning Acting class.

HOW TO TELL YOUR STORY

Ages 18 - Adult    8 weeks

Thursdays, Sept. 22 - Nov. 10    7 - 9 PM
We are the stories of our lives, but how we tell that story requires our own unique recipe. Start with story circle, add improv, a pinch of standup, a smidge of story theatre and a bit of drama and you have a true and rewarding concoction. Whether it's storytelling, presentation, theatre, comedy or public speaking, learn to tell your story using the art of the actor in a non-threatening, creative environment.

ART EXPLORATION

Ages 7-13    8 weeks
Instructor: Peter O’Brien    $160
Wednesdays, Sept. 21 - Nov. 9    4 - 5:30 PM
A series of classes designed to inspire and excite students about creating art. Popular and exciting subject matter is explored and created while the students are taught fine art principles and elements such as values, line quality, perspective, shapes, texture, color and composition. Students will be introduced to different tools and techniques for creating fun and powerful artwork. The ultimate goal is to create fun, excitement and confidence about art and a desire to want to learn more! Classes: Drawing the head and face, Drawing the figure, Watercolor I and Watercolor II. Supplies needed:

  •  Kneaded eraser
  •  Drawing pencils
  •  2-3 black art pens (examples: Tombow N15 doublesided brush tip pen OR a black prismacolor doublesided pen. Prismacolor also makes a size B, brush tip marker)

TV/FILM ACTING

(Ages 8-12) 8 weeks

Tuesdays Sept. 27 - Nov. 15, 4:30 - 6:00 PM
Get a taste of stardom and have fun while developing your acting technique through on-camera experience. Practice improvisation, presentation, and audition skills using commercial, film, and TV scripts (both comedy and drama). Parents are invited to observe the last class in action! Limited to 8 students

TV/FILM ACTING

(Ages 13-18) 8 weeks

Do you want to improve you image, speaking, and acting skills to succeed in business? Practice impromptu and prepared dialogue to prefect your presentations for interviews, auditions, website videos, public speaking, and business speeches.  Build confidence and learn acting techniques to enhance your presentations. Practice on camera for instant feedback. Again, this class is limited to only 8 students.
