KIDS CREATE - IMAGINE THIS!

Ages 4-7     8 weeks

Saturdays, Jan. 14 – Mar. 3, 2012     2 – 5 PM
Winter Play: The Forest of Snow! Come join Liz in creating a magical world from scratch. The play will be created and designed by the children. Their show to be performed on the last Saturday class. Through games, play and art the class is designed to nurture children's confidence as they learn the beginning skills of theatre.

ONE WORLD CHORUS (new to the Portland area!)

Ages 8-12     12 weeks
Instructor: Aaron & Diedre Smith    $195
Wednesdays, Feb. 15 – May 2     4:00 - 5:30 PM
PBS Kids performer, Aaron Nigel Smith, is a children's educator and entertainer recently relocated with his family to the Portland area from Los Angeles. He has been the music teacher of choice for parents such as Julia Roberts, Ziggy Marley, Ashley Simpson, Tory Spelling, and Nicole Richie. Children will learn a wide variety of repertoire, from Harry Belafonte to J.S. Bach, as they experience the universal language of music. In addition to weekly rehearsals, choir members will have the opportunity to participate in a recording project that unites the voices of children from around the world. Each session will end with a family concert  where the participants can share new music with the community.  Pre-requesite:  Audition Feb. 15, 4:00 PM.

ACTING FOR NON ACTORS

Ages 18 - Adult    8 weeks

If you've always wanted to try acting, this popular class is for you! Come and have fun while you learn theatre skills and techniques that will enhance your ability to think on your feet and feel comfortable and relaxed in front of others. Returning students welcome.

HOW TO TELL YOUR STORY

Ages 18 - Adult    8 weeks

Thursdays, Jan. 26 - Mar. 15, 2012     7 - 9 PM
We are the stories of our lives, but how we tell that story requires our own unique recipe. Start with story circle, add improv, a pinch of standup, a smidge of story theatre and a bit of drama and you have a true and rewarding concoction. Whether it's storytelling, presentation, theatre, comedy or public speaking, learn to tell your story using the art of the actor in a non-threatening, creative environment.

ART EXPLORATION

Ages 7-13    4 weeks
Instructor: Peter O’Brien    $160
Wednesdays, begins Jan. 11     4 - 5:30 PM
A series of classes designed to inspire and excite students about creating art. Popular and exciting subject matter is explored and created while the students are taught fine art principles and elements such as values, line quality, perspective, shapes, texture, color and composition. Students will be introduced to different tools and techniques for creating fun and powerful artwork. The ultimate goal is to create fun, excitement and confidence about art and a desire to want to learn more! Classes: Drawing and Watercolor. Supplies needed:

  •  Kneaded eraser
  •  Drawing pencils

STARSTRUCK

(Ages 8-12) 8 weeks

Tuesdays Jan. 24 - Mar. 13, 4:30 - 6:00 PM
Have fun while acting in front of the camera and performing shows. Practice improvisation, presentation and audition skills using commercial, film, and TV scripts (both comedy and drama). Instant video feedback helps students critique themselves and develop confidence and poise. Parents are invited to see the last class in action! Limited to 8 students

TV/FILM ACTING

(Ages 13-18) 8 weeks

Same class as Starstruck (listed above) but geared for older ages. Again, this class is limited to only 8 students

SPEAKING WITH CHARISMA: ON AND OFF CAMERA

(Ages 18-Adult) 8 weeks

Do you want to improve your image, speaking, and presentation skills? Practice impromptu and prepared dialogue to perfect your interviews, public speaking, business speeches, auditions, website videos, and reporting skills. Practice on camera for instant feedback. Learn how to become a more dynamic speaker with organized material that maintains audience interest. Build confidence and learn acting techniques adapted for public speakers to enhance your presentations. All levels of experience invited to join. This class is limited to only 8 students.
