The Lake Oswego Arts Foundation & Lakewood Theatre Company announce an open call for playwrights for the
2007 Playwriting Competition. This is the fifth year that we will provide an opportunity for area playwrights to have their new plays developed and presented as stage readings in a professional theatre environment.
The playwriting competition also provides a forum for playwrights to receive valuable feedback from real audiences during a talk-back or written sessions to follow the reading.
SUBMITTAL GUIDELINES:

Only one play per person may be
submitted.

All scripts must be accompanied with a letter containing the
playwright's name, address, telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address if
available. Additionally, a one-page synopsis of the work should be included.
Playwrights are asked to include a bio.

The submitted play must never
have been produced in any completed form including as a staged reading,
recording for distribution, on radio, television, or film.

It may be
either one-act or full length, not to exceed 90 minutes performance time in
length.

The play must be submitted in standard script formatting,
properly bound, with cover or title sheet.

Four (4) copies of the play
shall be submitted for judging. Plays will not be considered for judging unless
four copies are submitted.

Include a bio, photo, and a self-addressed,
stamped envelope with adequate postage for return of script following judging.
Scripts received without return envelope and adequate postage will be
recycled.

PRIZE:

The winning play or one-act will
be produced as part of the Lakewood Theatre Company evening of original
plays.

The selected play will be
performed as a staged reading in 2008 with a date to be announced. Deadline for
submissions for the 2008 session is January 18, 2008 - 4:00 PM.

The performance will be cast and directed by the Lakewood
Theatre Company with input from the playwright.

Sets, costuming, props,
lighting, and sound will be provided on an as available basis. All staged
readings will occur on the same stage as the regularly scheduled season
productions.
