General info

The Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts is an arts education event of Lakewood Center for the Arts. Its primary goal is to educate by promoting, supporting, coordinating and exhibiting the arts of the region. The dates for the 2018 event are: June 22, 23 & 24, 2018.

Over a beautiful weekend in June, a dedicated group of people- from company teams to individual volunteers- work to celebrate the arts and produce a fantastic community event. It takes hundreds of volunteers to help it all come together, and volunteers like you are the driving force of the festival. We could never do it without you!
There are a wide variety of volunteer positions open for the Festival. Some positions include planning over a longer period and others are for shifts during the weekend that typically run in 3 hour increments during any of the three days of the Festival.

Volunteers 2018

  • Review the volunteer positions listed below.
  • Email the contact listed below the position by clicking on the name.  
  • Upon receiving your email, you will be contacted with the dates and times of the shifts that need to be filled.
  • Once you agree to a shift(s) you will receive confirmation plus details regarding training.


Like to plan, organize, work with others/make things happen?


(Each of these roles requires some time commitment prior to Festival as well as during Festival.)

Volunteer Team Lead
Recruit and coordinate efforts of all  Festival volunteers. Meetings with Team Leads (every other Tuesday) and Steering Committee (monthly).

Lakewood Hospitality Chair
WRecruit/schedule/train hospitality greeters for several locations around the Lakewood Center for the Arts.

National Charity League (NCL) Liaison
Identify volunteer needs with Steering Committee; contact NCL to request/schedule mother-daughter teams. Steering Committee member.

George Rogers Park Hospitality Chair
Recruit/ schedule/ train hospitality greeters for Park gate.

Festival Printed Program Editor
WCollect content for Festival program from Steering Committee members, curators and staff; edit and organize content and send to publisher. Meets monthly as Steering Committee member.

Crew Scheduler
WSchedule students recruited by our High School recruiter to complete tasks for our Logistics team. Tasks take place before, during and after the Festival. Check in periodically with students during the Festival. Majority of this position can be done remotely by text, phone and internet.

Sign up for a shift or two on our  hospitality team
Work in small group at Lakewood Center (3 hrs) or at George Rogers Park (2 hrs)  to welcome attendees, ask for donations, hand out Festival info.

Host at Patron Preview Party
Welcome guests/serve wine, 2-4 hours (Thursday evening, June 21, 2018)

Act as docent for high school or art literacy exhibit
(3 hr shift)

Artist Reception Coordinator
Recruit and coordinate food, drinks, and supplies for the Artist Reception on Friday, June 22, 2018.


Be a booth sitter
Assist vendors in the Park, watching booths and chatting with visitors while artists take a break.

Help with registration
Greet artists/ check in artwork/ act as runners/frame checkers (3-4 hours on Father’s Day Sunday, June 17, 2018)

Be on the Plants/Floral Team
Work with 7 Dees to provide and place plants for exhibit spaces; conduct plant sales during Festival
(2-3 hour shifts)


Ready the Open Show tent and rooms in Lakewood Center for art work display (roles include: paint/repair/ set up panels; put down carpet; set up tables/ chairs; set up and take down signage at LW & GRP; take down panels, etc. and return to storage.)

Application Organizer
IMatch printed applications to printed showcards in preparation for Open Show registration. Meets for 3-4 hours on Friday, June 15, 2018.

George Rogers Park Stage Crew
Help musicians unload, place, and reload equipment; provide security.
