 Kids Create - Ice Mountain

Saturdays, Jan 16 – Mar. 5 8 weeks
2 – 5 PM Ages 4 – 7

Children will step into the world of creating, designing and making their own show from pure imagination. Through games, play, art, music and dance, students will create an exciting show. Remember to bring a snack and get ready to have a wonderful time. Performance will be on the last day of class.

Grimm to Glee TV

Tuesdays, Jan. 19 – Mar. 8  8 weeks
4:30 – 6 PM Ages 7 – 11
Instructor: Sandra Peabody $175

Have fun while practicing on-camera acting skills. Become a star and create an episode for kids from the NBC television series Grimm, based on the Grimm Brothers Fairy Tales with lots of villains, heroines, and monsters. Throw in some comedy and GLEE TV to have a blast while learning television production. Parents are invited to observe the last class in action!

TV/Film Acting

Tuesdays, Jan. 19 – Mar. 8 8 weeks
6 – 7:30 PM Ages 11 – 17
Instructor: Sandra Peabody $175

Enjoy acting in front of the camera and performing scenes from shows. Practice improvisation, presentation and audition skills using commercial, film, and TV scripts (both comedy and drama). Create episodes for TV and film, while learning professional techniques for on-camera performances. Instant video feedback helps students critique themselves and develop confidence and poise. Parents are invited to attend the last class in action!

TV/Film Acting For Adults

Tuesdays Jan. 19 – Feb. 23 6 weeks
7:30 – 9:30 PM Ages 18 and up

Act in front of the camera and practice improvisation, presentation, and audition skills using commercial, film, and TV scripts (both comedy and drama). Instant video feedback helps students critique themselves, develop confidence, and reduce fears. Enjoy exercises that motivate you to take risks and gain personal power. Practice becoming more successful in a competitive job market. Instructor Sandra Peabody develops talent for the Northwest and LA markets and manages talent for voice over, film and television work.

LTC Studio Pro - On Camera Performance

Mondays, Jan. 18 – Mar. 7 8 weeks
5:30 – 7:30 PM Ages 10 – 17

Classes held off-site at Actor Studio Northwest.
LTC Studio Pro is a training program for dedicated young actors who want to be part of a performance cast and to have fun, while gaining more confidence, presentation and life skills. The curriculum focuses on teaching reality acting techniques applicable for film, television, and theater. All students will star in performances including a show with a live television audience, a LTC-TV webisode created by students, and scenes from Network shows with the final viewing on the Lakewood Theatre’s Headlee Mainstage Big Screen. Using television and film as a media, students also learn many aspects besides TV/Film acting including filming, directing, producing and more.
The LTC Studio Pro program is open to all students who have previous experience in Theater or TV/Film classes, previous performance, or with teacher approval. Other professional workshops are offered to Studio Pro actors throughout the year. Contact Lakewood Theatre at 503-635-3901 to schedule an audition/interview.  Sing-Sing-Sing

Tuesdays Jan. 12 - Mar. 15 10 weeks

Instructor: Leona Mitchell $175

Ever wish you could sell a song like the pros do?  Leona Mitchell, who comes to us via a long career as a Broadway and National Touring Company singer and actress, teaches singers of all experience how to control the performance, take the stage, and make the song shine.  This is a class for everyone who wants to ace the audition or wow the crowd with emphasis on salesmanship and solo performance.  Mitchell, who has shared the stage with such luminaries as Ethel Merman and Tony Roberts, works with each student on an individual basis to bring out the very best you have to offer.  Whether it’s a ballad, or an up tune, this class will teach you breath control, how to vocalize for the strongest voice and how to come across the footlights as the professional you were meant to be. Ages 18 and older, please.

Acting For Non-Actors

There’s nothing better on a cold dark winter night than gathering together to explore the world of acting! Come and have fun while you learn theatre skills and techniques that will enhance your ability to think on your feet and feel comfortable and relaxed in front of others. Professional Actors Class

Wednesdays Jan. 27 – Mar. 16 8 weeks
7:00 – 9:00 PM Ages 18 and up
Instructor: Nancy McDonald $150

An ongoing in-depth class for actors who want to master their craft while preparing themselves for auditions and work. Students perform their own choice of scenes, monologues, auditions and storytelling, all in a creative environment for stretching and growing. This class is designed for intermediate/advanced actors who are serious about pursuing professional acting opportunities. Students already in this class are encouraged to return as often as they like. Prerequisite: a class with Nancy, other acting classes, 
or prior acting work.

How To Tell Your Story

Thursdays Jan. 28 – Mar. 17 8 weeks
7:00 – 9:00 PM Ages 18 and up
Instructor: Nancy McDonald $150

We are the stories of our lives, but how we tell that story requires our own unique recipe. Start with story circle, add improv, a pinch of stand-up, a smidge of story theatre and a bit of drama and you have a true and rewarding concoction. Whether it’s storytelling, presentation, theatre, comedy or public speaking, learn to tell your story using the art of the actor in a non-threatening, 
creative environment.

Audition Workshop

Saturday, Mar. 19 One day only
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Ages 16 – Adult
Instructor: Nancy McDonald $30

Come and work out your audition material with the support, feedback and expertise of an instructor who has decades of experience acting in the New York theatre and who coaches local actors in their auditions for area theatres. Get the benefit of seeing the work of other actors who will also be working out the kinks in their own auditions. Not limited to PATA auditions, and includes musical auditions if you bring your iPod or Smartphone with accompaniment (no accompanist provided).

Kids Create - Spring Tales

Monday – Friday March 21 - 25  One week only
2:00 – 5:00 PM Ages 4 – 7
Instructor: Liz Hayden $110

The world of creating, designing and making a show from pure imagination. Utilizing theatre exercises, games, music and dance, students will create an exciting show. Students start with the theme “Spring Tales” to imagine a story that is developed through improvisation using their words to create a script outline. The work is then rehearsed and expanded culminating with a performance the last day of class on Friday, March 25 at 4pm. Be creative and have fun.
