Six weeks of one-week sessions for this popular program! Children will step into the world of creating, designing and making their own show from pure imagination. Through games play, art, music and dance students will create an exciting show. Remember to bring a snack and get ready to have a wonderful time. Performance on the last day of camp. Sleepy Hollow Children’s Theatre Workshop and Production

Sleepy Hollow, now in its 24th year, returns for two sessions of theater production, using original musicals as vehicles to teach all areas of Musical Theater. The final product of the workshop will be public performances on the last two days of the workshop, and a take-home DVD of the performance for students. The Sleepy Hollow workshop and performance has often been a young actor’s first experience participating in live theatre. Many return year after year for the training and performance opportunity Sleepy Hollow offers. Areas of study include: Auditioning, Staging, Choreography, Character Development, Vocal Techniques, Creative Dramatics, Direction, Improvisation & Evaluation. These workshops challenge young actors from beginners to experieneced thespians. Check out the experienced teachers who head up the Sleepy Hollow faculty.

Pre-Ballet

This is a fun, creative introduction to basic ballet movement. Emphasis is on coordination, rhythm, music, and mime using props, rhymes, stories and imagination. Your child will be galloping on a pony, leaping over puddles, and learning movements to accompany their favorite preschool songs! Students will learn basic ballet skills and terminology. Dress code: any style leotard (pink, black, or white), tutus & skirts (optional), tights (optional), & ballet technique slippers (required). Parents are welcome to observe class on the final day of each session.

Beginning Ballet I

This class is a transition from the creative movement aspect of Pre-Ballet to a more formal ballet class in which the fundamentals of ballet and barre work are introduced. Focus is on posture, muscle strength, technique and musicality in a supportive and encouraging environment. Classes are cumulative from Fall 2017 to Spring 2018; new students are encouraged to begin during the next fall term. One year of Pre-Ballet experience recommended. Additional costume fee of $40 required for performance. Dress code: order leotard at motionwear.com – style #2176 in raspberry /silkskyn (pinch front with V back leotard); ballet tights, & ballet technique slippers (can be ordered or bought anywhere). Parents are welcome to observe class on the final day of each session.

Beginning Ballet II

Students will further develop posture, muscle strength, technique, musicality and self-discipline in a supportive and encouraging environment. Ballet Level lll students further develop their ballet technique through stretching, barre work and center floor work. Continued emphasis on posture, muscle strength, technique, musicality, and self-discipline in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students will be introduced to turns and more challenging allegro (jumps) work. Classes are cumulative from Fall 2017 to Spring 2018; new students are encouraged to begin during the next fall term. Perform shows, practice improvisations, presentations, and auditions using commercial, film, and TV scripts (both comedy and drama). Parents are invited to observe the last class in action! Instructor Sandra Peabody is an Emmy-award winning writer/producer/director and manages young talent for voice over, film and television work in the Northwest and Los Angeles. All levels invited.

From doing table reads, to filming in the studio or on location, you will enjoy acting in a television production with sets, costumes and more. Experience being a crew member and learn everything from brainstorming and writing to producing, filming and directing. Besides creating commercials and voice-overs, you can perform and improvise roles from your favorite network comedies and dramas, like Stuck in the Middle, K.C. Undercover, Good Luck Charlie, or Stranger Things. A final viewing of your projects will be on the Lakewood Theatre’s Headlee Mainstage Big Screen. The training focuses on reality acting techniques applicable for film, television and theater. Sandra Peabody has written, produced, directed and edited over 400 broadcast television programs for Network affiliates, ABC, NBC and OPB, and manages talent in the Pacific Northwest and Los Angeles.
Pre-Professional Musical Theatre Training Showcase

This program offers high school and college students with professional music theatre aspirations advanced training and development for music theatre performance. The intensive 11-day summer program is directed by individuals with years of professional and educational musical theatre experience. Learn from directors and teachers who cast and produce musicals.
The program offers an opportunity to:
- Develop critical techniques for stage, voice and dance skills in a professional atmosphere.
- Learn selections and scenes from popular hits such as Hamilton, Les Misérables, Cinderella, Into the Woods and less familiar musicals designed to broaden the actor’s repertoire for future auditions and competitions.
- Perform in a showcase that will tour to different venues with a finale performance for family, friends and community on the Headlee Mainstage at the Lakewood Center for the Arts.
The workshop is designed for students ages of 14 - 20 who seek advanced study in music theatre with prior experience in one or more performance skills, including singing, dancing or acting.

Sing, Sing, Sing

You will never know the full potential of your own singing voice until you take this step. This class is for you if you want to audition for musicals, sing with friends, perform karaoke or prepare for competition. This class is especially aimed at the individual who wants to be prepared for any occasion and any role, including the ones that require a song or two. Learn the full range of your voice, how to carry a tune and how to sell a song. Class limit 10.
Playing With Shakespeare

Back by popular demand! This acting class brings together a love of language, magic, mood, intrigue and, of course, some of the most beautiful theatre ever written! Professional Actors Class

An ongoing in-depth class for actors who want to master their craft while preparing themselves for auditions and work. Students perform their own choice of scenes, monologues, auditions and storytelling, all in a creative environment for stretching and growing. This class is designed for intermediate/advanced actors who are serious about pursuing professional acting opportunities. Students already in this class are encouraged to return as often as they like. Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Acting, other acting classes, or prior acting work. Note: If you have not studied with Nancy before, she will want to have a phone conversation before you register. Returning students encouraged.

Finding Your Ancestral Gold - One Saturday Only!

Pocket Sketching Workshop

Learn enough to play for a lifetime! This is the perfect technique for travel journaling, hiking, biking, sauntering or sitting in a café. Capture what you think you see in 25 minutes or less using a water soluble pen, a 4 x 6 inch pad of paper and a small paint set. Ideal for the timid beginner to paint fearlessly in public, and the advanced artist who wants total portability, speed and no clean-up. Much is based on the watercolors of John Singer Sargent. Instructor brings supplies that are included in the fee.
