Directed by John Oules, Musical direction by Darcy White
May 1 - June 14, 2015
The musical Mame, based on Patrick Dennis' novel Auntie Mame, features a score by Jerry Herman and a book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. Noted musical numbers include such classic tunes as “If He Walked Into My Life,” “It's Today,” “Open a New Window,” “Mame,” “Bosom Buddies” and “We Need a Little Christmas.”
The story: Bohemian Mame Dennis (Jennifer Goldsmith) is a larger-than-life personality living in New York City during the Great Depression. Mame has a collection of eccentric, wealthy society friends and memorable characters — including the has-been actress Vera Charles (Anne Du Fresne), timid secretary Agnes Gooch (Leslie Irene Gale), and a southern gentleman beau named Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside (Ron Harman).
Mame's life is one endless party; that is until her young nephew Patrick (Hudson Hale) "walks into her life." Her mad-cap, free spirited lifestyle with its focus on "today" changes while looking after her brother's son, leading to a "new window" opening for both of them in this life-affirming tale seen through Patrick's eyes. Mame teaches Patrick how to "live, live, live" — whether he's willing or not. It's the dazzling musical that proves life's a banquet, featuring the classic songs "We Need a Little Christmas," "It's Today," "Bosom Buddies" and, of course, "Mame." Show sponsors: Don & Sharon Plumb and Bill & Barbara Warner.
Others in the cast include Kimo Camat, David Sargent, Joan Freed, Matt Brown, Jeremy Southard, Catherine Olson, Bryna Montgomery, Tara Beanblossom, Krista Monaghan, Camille Trinka, Ryan Monaghan, and Isaac Frank.
The creative team includes director John Oules, musical director Darcy White, choreographer Laura Hiszczynskyj, set designer John Gerth, costume designer Jamie Parker, lighting designer Kurt Herman, sound designer Marcus Storey, hair designer Jane Holmes, stage manager Heather Taylor, assistant stage manager Zach Peak and producer Kay Vega.
