The Story: The musical comedy SPAMALOT is “lovingly ripped off from” the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and follows the misadventures of the legendary King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. In Medieval England, King Arthur tramps around on his quest for the Holy Grail, meeting a killer rabbit, feisty Frenchmen and some beautiful women along the way.
The original Broadway production of SPAMALOT opened in March 2005 at the Shubert Theatre, and was nominated for 14 Tony Awards, winning the 2005 Tony Award for “Best Musical.” SPAMALOT also won a Grammy Award in 2006 for “Best Musical Show Album. During its first run of over 1,500 performances, it was seen by more than two million people.
The show features a ridiculous bevy of beautiful showgirls, not to mention cows, a giant wooden rabbit, assorted French people. Did we mention the bevy of beautiful showgirls?
