Young Playwrights Program begins at Lakewood

Oct. 3, 2016 is the deadline for young playwrights to submit their scripts for possible staged reading at Lakewood

Lakewood Theatre Company in Lake Oswego is producing a Young Playwrights Festival and we are looking for high school students interested in pursing Playwrighting, Directing or Stage Management. The playwrights receive an opportunity to work with professional actors and directors to develop/workshop their play. The workshop rehearsals will result in a stage reading as part of the Fertile Ground Festival on January 28, 2016 on the Headlee mainstage at Lakewood Center for the Arts. We also have an opportunity for students interested in Directing and/or Stage Management to shadow the professionals. As you know, working in New Play Development is different than staging finished plays and it is our goal is to expose students to this dynamic process.

The deadline to submit is October 3, 2016. Scripts should be One Acts (10 minute – 30 minutes in length or 30-40 pages max.) For more info on the More guidelines listed at

Please let any students that you think may be a good fit know about this opportunity. See the download below so that you can post it on your social media or bulletin board.
