Darrell Salk

Recent Lakewood Role - Baptiste in 'A Flea In Her Ear'

Darrell Salk (Baptiste) recently moved to Portland from Seattle where he worked primarily in the field of health sciences. From a very young age he had an interest in the theatre. Before moving to the Northwest, he performed at community theatres while living in a variety of areas around the country, playing such roles as Caliban (The Tempest), Alfred P. Doolittle (My Fair Lady), Harold Hill (Music Man), Francis Archer (The Beaux Strategem), Lucky (Waiting for Godot), Peter the Hermit (Seven Keys to Baldpate) and, perhaps his favorite, at least for including in program biographies, the Dead Peasant in "El Camino Real". Having retired and reconnected with (and finally marrying) his college sweetheart after 37 years, he is very happy to follow her advice: "Get back on stage. It's where you always wanted to be." In Portland, he appeared recently at the West End Theatre as Herr Dr. Knarre in the Jewish Theatre Collaborative's production of "Charlotte Salomon: Life or Theatre?"
